Tailoring
Tailoring allows players to cut and weave various pieces of cloth into armor, bags, shirts and other cloth items. Tailors play an especially important role in guilds because they can create bags for the entire guild provided the guild members gather the proper ingredients.
Mining
Mining is Profession used to gather and create reagents for Blacksmithing, Engineering and Jewelcrafting. As such you could simply collect resources and sell them to blacksmiths, engineers or jewelcrafters. However, most people combine mining with blacksmithing, engineering, or jewelcrafting so they can easily create items.
Herbalism
Herbalism allows you to find and harvest herbs from particular resource nodes scattered around the world. It is a primary profession. While a very small number of herbs are sometimes used for other trade skills, the vast majority are used exclusively for Alchemy.
Skining
Skinning allows players to gather leather, Hides and scales by skinning certain mobs (beasts, dragonkin, Silithid, and, very rarely, humanoids). Not all mobs of each type can be skinned, e.g. birds cannot be skinned despite being beasts. Leather, hides and scales are used for leatherworking.
Cooking
From Beer-Basted Boar Ribs to Giant Clam Scorcho, there is no recipe too obscure or odd to avoid notice from the Chefs of Azeroth. Food is used in the game to heal players out of combat, so they can get back to fighting as quickly as possible.
Fishing
So you want to be a fisherman? Fishing is a skill that, as you would expect, allows you to catch fish, most of which can be used with the cooking secondary skill.
First Aid
Players practicing First Aid may create a variety of bandages which can be used to heal themselves or others. Bandages are made from cloth (linen, wool, silk, mageweave, etc.), with higher quality fabrics producing more effective bandages.
Riding
Riding is a secondary profession in which characters may learn to ride mounts. Every mount has a minimum skill level required for riding. In general, a normal mount will require Apprentice riding skill, and a swift mount will require Journeyman skill, but there are exceptions.
Poisons (Rogue)
Poisons allow Rogues to coat their weapons in various poisons which can cause instant damage, damage over time, or even reduce an enemy's movement and/or casting speed.
Lockpicking (Rogue)
The Pick Lock skill allows Rogues to use [Thieves' Tools] to open locked doors, chests, and lockboxes.
Arena
Arenas are places where teams of players can compete against each other in deathmatch-style PvP. Instead of participating in objective-based PvP, these contests will center around your team's ability to obliterate the other team.
Battlegrounds
Battlegrounds are instanced areas solely used for the purposes of PvP. Each BG has two red instance entrance portals, one for Alliance, and one for the Horde. They attempt to allow balanced numbers into each instance, however, this is not always the case.
Instances
I Dungeons, keeps, or other confined areas can have sub-areas called "Instance Dungeons", or just "Instances". These Instances are special areas in the World of Warcraft where your group or raid party is able to interact with a dungeon privately; that is, without interference from other parties.
Guild
A guild is an in-game association of player characters. Guilds are formed to make grouping and raiding easier and more rewarding, as well as to form a social atmosphere in which to enjoy the game.
